Rigos Chartering, Inc. is involved in the transportation of bulk commodities and sale of vessels. The primary function of the company is to arrange transportation of oil cargoes for the Major Oil companies on a world wide basis. The sizes of the tankers varies from 30,000 MT up to 500,000 MT. Rigos Chartering, Inc. was incorporated in 1979 in New York State by Mr. George Rigos and Capt. E. N. Rigos. The two brothers were born in GREECE. The origin of the family of  Rigos is from Ysternia, a small village in Tinos, which is part of the Cyclades. In 1997, Marianna Rigos joined the company and has since managed the office, takes care of operations, and is involved in the trading of vessels. In case you want to find out more information about Greece, an excellent source is (HEC) Hellenic Electronic Center.

The Principals Of The Company.

The oil companies, oil traders and ship owners which are located all over the world are our principals. We concentrate on Major oil companies like BP AMOCO - PHILLIPS - TOSCOMOBIL- and others. On the other hand our primary tanker owners are located in the United States and in Greece.

Rigos and Computers.

We started our computing "nightmare" in 1979 with an Apple of 2K RAM, Visicalc, World Star, Dbase II, and a modem of 300 Bd rate. During this time there were 70,000 personal computers in circulation. Since then we have come a long way.

Since the Apple computer days, we eventually moved to higher level of technology with a Novel environment and eventually into a NT network. The company is fully computerized and operates as a paperless office. We have created an electronic office which gives us an advantage in this difficult industry of tanker brokerage.

The arrival of E-Mail and the Internet connection has helped the company jump into the "Electronic Superhighway." Rigos Chartering, Inc. was the first commercial maritime company to establish a home page on the world wide web in November 1994.
